Daily write-up - Mar 2nd

There are NH meetings today at Fakenham and Southwell – but it’s uninspiring stuff…

I suspect it will be a similar story most days this week, but I’ll be keeping an eye out, just in case any gems do appear.

Of todays 2 meetings, then the better action is probably at Fakenham.

In the handicap chase at 3:00 Dashing George has a theoretical chance of over turning hot favourite De Kerry Man.
The handicapper has certainly been kind to him, dropping him to a mark of 105 – a full 18lb lower than he was successful off, over course and distance, just over 12 months ago (I’m sure a lot of you remember that particular win  ).
However, I’ve been watching him closely in his last few outings and he’s not struck me like a horse on the brink of a victory.
In fairness, there is always the chance that a return to the unique Fakenham track will see him bounce back to form – and I wouldn’t discourage anyone from having a ‘fun’ bet on him – but I don’t think he is tipping material…

In the 4:00 race, Artifice Sivola could have been tipping material – if there was half a price available.
In truth, I would have been prepared to go pretty low with him – but 5/4 is just too short, for a horse who was struggled to get home the last twice.
It’s reasonable to think he will have his best chance of lasting the trip today – but it’s not impossible that he might still be run down by one of his rivals, in the shadows of the post.

Finally at Fakenham, Sandynow makes his second appearance of the season in the closing event on the card.
He ran really well on his seasonal debut at Ffos Las – and if he’s come of for that, he will take the beating today.
However, a best price of 7/2 looks plenty short enough in a competitive looking field.

There is little of note at Southwell, though I will be interested to see how Ugly Bug fares on his return to hurdles at 4:20.
I expected him to make a half decent novice chaser this season – but it’s just not happened.
He’s back over the smaller obstacles today – and running off a fair enough mark.
If he responds positively to the switch, he should run a good race – and in that case, 8/1 would be a reasonable price.

Good luck if you do choose to get involved today.

TVB.
