Todays tips were relying on the market leaders in their
respective race under-performing – and unfortunately for us, that didn’t
happen…
Swaledale Lad came closest to making it a good day, but
he first couldn’t fend off – and then couldn’t get back at –
Ifandbutwhynot…
As I
said this morning, I felt todays race was Ifandbutwhynots to lose – I just
thought him more that capable of losing it !
However, under a far more positive ride from AP, he never
allowed Swaledale Lad much of a lead – and was able to pass him jumping the
final fence.
It
was a bit of a shame, as Swaledale Lad ran a mighty race – and finished a dozen
lengths in front of the third horse.
He
was just a bit unlucky to bump into a rival who had everything going for him –
and got a very good ride.
In
truth, we can’t have many complaints…
We
can’t have many complaints about the run of Jupitor either.
This
time, I felt that the market leaders set a surpassable standard – however
Embracing Change showed marked improvement, to win as he liked.
That said, even with him out of the race, Jupitor was still held by Portrait King.
Too
Late to Sell was a late drifter – and ran as they often do.
In
fairness, he was the riskier selection – so that’s a chance you take.
Finally, Arctic Court was never really put in the race at
Musselburgh.
In
truth, it was probably too hot a contest for him – and he did run past a few
rivals at the end, to finish quite close up.
He
could be worth another chance – if he gets decent ground and a slightly weaker
race…
As
for the mentions: then Streets of Newyork was touched off at Musselburgh – he
was unlucky to bump into a well handicapped rival.
At
Punchestown, Grand Partner ran a fair race to finish seventh in the Pertemps
qualifier, without every really threatening: whilst Bright Now Dan got revenge
on his Leopardstown conqueror, Twinlight - but was a good way adrift of the race
winner, Hidden Cyclone.
We’ve had better days…
TVB.
