It
was nice to get back on the score sheet this afternoon, with Yes Tom,
particularly after his last run for us…
However, I do feel that we were maybe a tad fortunate, as
Back to Bracka was putting down a significant challenge when he decanted his
jockey at the second last.
That said, the reason I was prepared to oppose him this afternoon, was because I had concerns over potential jumping frailties – so maybe we got our just desserts !

Certainly I think Yes Tom benefited from a typically
aggressive AP ride.
The trip was on the short side for him, so taking the initiative early and pressing on, was always likely to be a good move.

That’s one of the things that separates the best jockeys
from the rest.
They
don’t just let things happen in a race – they make moves that change
events.
AP
striking for home early put his two challengers under pressure - and ultimately
their jumping wasn’t up to it.
Nice
work AP, I say !
So
far as the mentions were concerned, then there wasn’t too much to get excited
about…
The
exception was Sandynow, who I had put in a double at 25/1 with Yes Tom, and whom
I got very excited about !
He
ran a mighty race, leading throughout and jumping like a buck – only to get
collared between the last 2 hurdles.
All
things being equal you would expect him to come on for the run and be difficult
to beat next time – however, I very much doubt all things will be equal with him
!
In
the following race at Ffos Las, Ugly Bug got rid of his jockey, with over a
circuit to go.
It’s
back to the drawing board (again !) with him…
Over
at Clonmel, Bailey Green was disappointing in the Glenduff memorial: whilst
Winter Magic ran on to claim a very distant third, in the handicap
chase.
In
fairness to him, he was never really put in that race – and after a long
absence, I could see him improving next tine out.
TVB.
