There was no joy this afternoon, with Albatros de
Guye…
He
actually ran a very disappointing race, either not handling the ground – or
demonstrating himself completely useless !
As
he’d shaped with some promise on his UK debut, I’ll give him the benefit of the
doubt and blame the ground…
And
it was a shame really, because as I suspected this morning, the race was there
for the taking.
Jumping the last, Bobbits Way (the other one that I felt
had a chance) seemed to have got the better of favourite Bravo
Riquet.
But
he then demonstrated why he is a 21 race maiden, by showing an unwillingness to
run on.
This
enabled the favourite to get back up and take the race close home…
The
only other horse I was interested in today was Manballandall – and what a race
he ran !
Taken wide throughout, he must have given away a couple
of dozen of lengths in the process. He looked well beaten turning in, but then
ran on late to ultimately finish around 10 lengths behind the winner.
I’ll
be surprised if there is a bigger eye-catcher all season - which is a bit of a
shame, as the chance on us getting a price on him next time were probably shot
by todays run.
Oh,
the joys of this complex game !!
TVB.
